Get ready for a fun day as we ferry to Port Townsend for the Rhody Festival. Port Townsend's Rhododendron Festival was first celebrated in 1935. The long-running celebration tries to consistently introduce new events. In 2012, the 'Running of the Balls,' a painted golf-ball race with cash prizes, was created to raise money for a local Rotary club. In 2013, a cake picnic following the Grand Parade was added, serving lemon cake to the nearly 1,600 parade attendees. Keeping with a spirit of competition, a hair and beard contest also was introduced that year. Transportation, ferry fare and lunch are included.
