A bucket-list adventure begins as you put your seat in the locked and upright position as we fly to South America and land in beautiful Buenos Aires. After a wonderful rest, we will board the Star Princess to begin an unforgettable cruise. Overnight on board the ship in Buenos Aires, with a full day to explore the city of music and dance -notably the tango. Then the ship sails to the genteel colonial city of Montevideo in Uruguay, where there are excursions to Unesco-listed Colonia del Sacramento, the oldest city in Uruguay. Next comes the British-owned Falkland Islands, where you can spot red telephone boxes and pubs as well as penguins -with varieties including the Gentoo, magellanic and king penguin. There is scenic cruising through the Strait of Magellan, which links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and through Cockburn Channel and Beagle Channel to Glacier Alley, where the scenery is spectacular and there is the chance to see whales and seabirds. There are sea lions and king crab around Ushuaia, the southern-most city in the world, and then the ship sails around Cape Horn at the end of South America. There is more scenic cruising through Tierra del Fuego past snow-capped mountains and the blue glaciers of Canal Sarmiento. The ship also sails through Chile's Torres del Paine National Park, where you can see Amalia Glacier and countless seabirds. The Chilean fjords are thought by many to be even more spectacular than those in Norway and the 1,000 miles of coastline dotted with islands and glaciers is more than all the fjords of the whole of Scandinavia. There's also a stop at Puerto Montt, gateway to Chile's scenic Lake District, where the icy lakes are surrounded by snow-topped volcanoes and pine forests. The cruise finishes at Valparaiso in Chile, but there's a night in a hotel at Santiago and time to explore before catching a flight home the next day. Includes round-trip international air from Seattle; one night gorgeous hotel in Buenos Aires, 14 night cruise on the world class Star Princess with ports of call in Buenos Aires, Uruguay, Argentina, the Falkland Islands and Chile, with a wonderful post-cruise hotel in Chile.
